New Learning

After K-7, I have suffered as a student for most of my education. I was an inconvenient student, because I couldn’t relate to the pedagogical approaches of the professors. As it frequently happens, we end up converting our torments into something useful for others. In my case, I explored pedagogies that were more in tune with my preferences – I wanted to include different learning styles and create blended and holistic learning approaches that could be experiential, relevant and transformative. Rethinking pedagogies is a necessary step to develop new ways of designing learning interventions and it provides a framework to guide us as we move from being instructors to becoming Learning Facilitators. Developing the contents and principles for a Sustainability Mindset was another milestone in the path of revisiting the purpose and goal of education. Why are we educating, what for? Is there a more important goal for educators than to help shape a better world for all? That seems to start with the mindset.
